This workshop is a little different than most photo workshops; it's for the photographer whose studio is in their home. Photographer Mike Caldwell will demonstrate how he utilizes less than 425 square feet of space and simple lighting set ups to create the images you see in his portfolio and website.
This workshop is mainly instructional, but there is shooting with a model. Mike actually goes thru a complete session to show you how he works with clients and models.
Mike has over 45 years of photographic experience. He spent 15 years as a photojournalist, 10 years managing a one hour photo lab with his dad and 25 years owning his own studio. He's also a graphic designer and has created direct mail campaigns for Sprint, Verizon wireless, Alltel, Toyota and YMCA of middle TN.

When I found out that Mike was doing one-on-one workshops, I jumped on the chance to learn from him. I was able to learn how to use simple lighting and create my own backdrops while using a small space. The images that Mike puts out are amazing, and he teaches you his entire workflow from start to finish on how he achieves those amazing images! This is a must for any photographer at any level!!
Joe Owen, Owen Image Studio - Lafayette, TN
I attended one of Mike's one-on-one workshops at his studio in Murfreesboro in 2011. I'd seen his images on Facebook and on his MPS website, sent him a few messages on Facebook, and felt he was someone from which I could learn. Little did I know how much I would learn!
Mike has a way of making difficult subjects easy to understand. He was able to explain and show me things that made them seem so simple. Mike has been in the business for many years and understands it inside out. And while he knows all the technical aspects of photography and lighting, in his workshops he is able to break it down into steps that are of immediate use to the student.
I would say the one thing that would sum up my experience with Mike is that within 2 weeks of returning home from his workshop, I had the confidence to build my own studio. When I left Mike's workshop, I walked away feeling like, "I can do this!" "
